Buck O'Neil Design Build
The John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil Memorial Bridge (formerly the Broadway Bridge) is a triple arch bridge carrying U.S. Highway 169 over the Missouri River. As a critical regional connector between downtown Kansas City and outlying communities, regular maintenance and repair is necessary to ensure continued safety. Although the bridge was rehabilitated in 2018, a new bridge is needed to provide a crossing that supports future use.

The project involves replacing one of the Missouri River bridge crossings and providing direct connections from US-169 to I-35 on the west side of the downtown “loop.” Serving as part of the joint-venture design-build contract, Hg Consult is providing maintenance of traffic control services. Several staged construction phases were needed to minimize impacts to traffic spanning multiple construction seasons.
